Sleeping Four Meters Beneath the Indian Ocean

Anchored in a marine conservation area known as "The Blue Hole," the Manta Underwater Room is a three-tiered floating villa situated 250 meters off the coast of Pemba Island. Designed by Swedish engineer Mikael Genberg, the centerpiece is the submerged bedroom encapsulated by 360-degree acrylic viewing panes.

By day, reef fish, squid, and spotted eagle rays circle the glass. At night, spotlight searchlights illuminate the water around the windows, attracting rare nocturnal species and luminescent plankton.

Nocturnal Marine Life Illumination

Sub-sea spotlights attached beneath the bedroom windows attract shy sea creatures like octopus, Spanish dancer nudibranchs, and reef sharks that rarely approach during daylight hours.

Structure Architecture & Layout

The top level is a wooden sun deck equipped with daybeds for sunbathing and stargazing. The sea-level deck features an open dining area and freshwater bathroom. A ladder descends four meters into the submerged bedroom underwater.
